Gabe Copeland currently dances with and has choreographed for Rhapsody in Taps, an innovative rhythm tap ensemble headed by Linda Sohl-Ellison, in which he also performed original choreography by Gregory Hines. In the winter of 2010/2011 Gabe was a featured soloist in an international tour of Caution Men at Work Tap. The show, consisting of 7 tap dancers and four musicians, toured mainland China where he performed in 15 cities in 2 months. Over his long performance career he has worked with many tap greats, Joy Hewitt, Chance Taylor, Fred Strickler, Bob Carroll, Linda Sohl-Ellison and the legendary Chester Whitmore. He has shared the stage with Dianne Walker and performed choreography inspired by Leon Collins. Gabriel is a soloist, choreographer and performer for Tap Overload and has been a guest dancer with KIN dance company. He is an associate artistic director and choreographer for Montage Dance Theater where he has directed and choreographed a community outreach production of West Side Story in Taps. He has performed in many dance and musical theater productions throughout Los Angeles and Orange County including Fullerton Civic Light Opera’s Crazy For You directed by Don Ward. Most recently, Gabe was a featured guest improv tap soloist in Downey Civic Light Opera’s Rogers and Hart: A Celebration directed by Marsha Moode.

Gabe Copeland has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Communications from California State University, Fullerton. From 2001 to 2005 Gabe worked as a Classified Employee/Inst. Asst. for the Capistrano Unified School District Special Education. This led to his involvement in directing and choreographing for an original production entitled Dream: The Musical. A play based on a true story that brings on stage some of the challenges linked to adoption and autism. Original music by Renato Giordano and Cisco Robles.
